The Academy Award winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” has educated millions of people about the impacts of climate change.
In April 2008, Adam joined in with 250 Canadians to be personally trained by Al Gore to deliver a presentation similar to the one he presents in the documentary, but specifically tailored towards Canadians and Canadian issues.
People from all walks of life and all regions of the country came together over a weekend in Montreal with a common goal: to learn how to spread awareness about climate change. In addition to intensive sessions with Mr. Gore, trainees attended presentations from top Canadian environmental leaders, including David Suzuki and Jean Lemire, to perfect their knowledge and skills.
We also had a little fun: all the trainees, along with members of the public attended the Comedians for Climate Project-Canada benefit at Place des Arts hosted by top performer Russell Peters. The show featured appearances by Al Gore, comedians Angelo Tsarouchas, Derek Seguin, Mark Critch, Jean Paul, Frazer Smith, Glen Foster, teen jazz phenomenon Nikki Yanofsky, and CBC’s popular host of “The Hour”, George Strombolopoulos.
All the trainees couldn’t be better equipped for the task of reaching out to audiences across the country. Each of the 250 trainees committed to doing 10 presentations on climate change over the course of one year. Now that they have returned to their communities, they are linked by our website, a comprehensive online support system and interactive community. We also have a professional team of online communications and environmental specialists, materials for their audiences, and assistance in organizing their speaking venues, press releases – every facet of their volunteer work as a messenger of change on the climate crisis.
